It can possibly be ranked among the greatest comebacks of all-time in automotive history, with Chrysler's ground breaking V6 engine, the Pentastar (named after Chrysler's five-pointed-star logo) now replacing seven of Chrysler's engines.
The 3.6 liter V6 Pentastar is a Double Overhead Cam engine (DOHC), which means there are two camshafts above the combustion chambers providing a lower total mass as, there are fewer components compared to conventional Push Rod systems.
A product of years of research, the all-aluminum Pentastar provides 33% more power and 11% more torque than the engines it replaces. Fuel efficiency is improved by 11% and promises to improve Chrysler's over all Corporate Average Fuel Economy by 2 miles per gallon by 2015.
However, the superstar in the Pentastar is its flexibility - It is a flex-fuel engine which can work on either gasoline or E85 ethanol and with no compromise in performance regardless of which fuel is used! And this Pentastar is all set to find its way across Chryslers, Dodges, Jeeps and also Alfa Romeos.
Unveiled at the 2009 New York Auto show, we at
Napleton Chrysler Jeep Dodge (Kissimmee, Florida) are confident about the fact that the Pentastar can well set Chrysler on the road to recovery.
